CHAPTER 10: STRANGE ENCOUNTERS

It was almost afternoon, when the group finished their trip. They were on their way to the Chris and Jenny's home. That's when, they noticed a commotion at the Meyerhoff Street. There was a young man standing at the front, who was mercilessly attacking people from a crowd that had gathered. They ran towards that direction. As they reached the spot, they saw people running about arbitrarily. It was absolute chaos.

Their eyes then fell on the young man, who had seemingly caused the panic among the people. He was shooting out sparks from his extended hand. He had sleek, black hair and sharp, angular facial features. His dark red eyes exuded coldness. His lips were curled up in a small, cruel smile, which turned into a frown, when his narrowed eyes fell upon the group, and his hand fell to his side.

                            Andrew Wilson

"You can't subdue us protestants! Tinworth and it's population might be low in number, but the protests are high! You can attack us and try to shut our voices! But you can never subdue the hatred we have for you! NEVER!" shouted a man, from the crowd, and the young man, extended his hand once again, apparently, to attack them once again.

"Andrew Wilson! DO YOU HAVE NO SHAME?!", yelled Robert McAdams's booming voice.

"McAdams, you keep your trap shut! No one's asked you to interfere. This is MY business. These protestants are against me! Against my brother, on account of false accusations!", Andrew Wilson screamed back.

"But that's no way to handle these protestants. Even if they are protesting against him, on account of false accusations!", Alice snapped at him.

"Yes! You are being absolutely irrational, Wilson", Lily stated, and all the others agreed vehemently.

Chris and Jenny went to pacify the panic that had arose among the crowd of people.

"Who are you to order me around?! NO ONE! Just some foreigners!", Andrew spat out angrily.

"ANDY! What's this behaviour?!", shouted a voice from behind the crowd of people. "Andy", he said, approaching them slowly, "That is very unethical of you. You ought not subject the respected visitors to such mistreatment," he said, shaking his head in disapproval.

"This is highly disappointing, my dear! And you shall not have resorted to such misconduct towards the protestants. After all, they were simply providing a demonstration of their opinions about me, albeit through unethical ways. But you are not the law, my dear brother", the man said to Andrew, in a highly endearing tone.

And in the same calm, endearing tone, he addressed the crowd of people, and said, "Addressing those whoever had gathered here, in order to initiate a protest march against Anthony Wilson, which is, undoubtedly me, I would only like to present a few words: I, Anthony Wilson, am not guilty of any of the crimes that I am accused of, and I openly confess the same. If anyone still doesn't find it possible to believe my words, then they are free to protest against me, the leader of 'Fulminare'. I have only ever wanted the welfare of everyone whom I have come across, in my life of forty-five years. I would never even wish harm upon anyone".

                           Anthony Wilson

Mr. McAdams beckoned them all, out of the street, at that very moment. And they all headed away from that direction.

"What happened, sir? Why did we come back?", Lily asked face.

"I don't want to stay in the presence of that vile man!", Robert answered.

"But I thought that the man was really polite and honest. The way he expressed himself; how much of a calming presence he was", Molly said.

"Yeah, and he didn't even talk ill about the people who started a protest rally against him. The cunning man is his brother, to be honest", George said, agreeing to Molly.

"Or maybe the cunning man is right in front of us", Fred muttered, looking at McAdams and no one except Alice and McAdams heard him. Alice only looked at him sharply, and Robert kept quiet.

"Yes. Anthony Wilson can be very charming. But NEVER fall for his false charm. He...", but a voice interrupted him from behind.

"I what, Robert? Pray tell me, why you intend to ruin my image and brainwash people against me, my dear friend?". It was Anthony Wilson.

Robert didn't wait to answer him, and strode away from the spot. Wilson sighed, and looked directly at the teens, saying, "You are new visitors, aren't you? I would love it if you would do so much as to grace my humble abode with your presence. It's a humble request. Do consider it. If your decision is in the affirmative, then, here's my address", he said, handing them a scrap of paper, on which, apparently, his address was written. And then, he proceeded to turn around and depart from there.

After walking forward a few steps, they found Robert leaning on a wall. As soon as he saw them, he smiled at them lopsidedly.

"Okay! So old people, from here, we are going to Lily's house. And from there, we will go to Chris and Jenny's house, through a Teleportation booth", he said. Everyone was surprised to notice the sudden change in his mood. But then, Robert McAdams was not himself, if he didn't act weird.

"What's a Teleportation booth?", Molly and Fred asked in chorus.

          "You'll see", Robert replied, winking.

"Mr. McAdams, who was Anthony Wilson?", Molly asked, while they walked.

"Yes, and why were the people protesting against him? And why don't you like him?", George asked.

"Anthony Wilson is a politician. There are few political organisations in Tinworth. Elections are held every year, and the leader of the winning group, is announced the Mayor of Tinworth Highland. Fulminare is one of those groups and is led by Anthony. His brother, Andrew is the secretary. There's always been a rivalry and tough competition between Fulminare and Apricus, led by William Redman, who is the current Mayor of Tinworth. The elections are going on right now. And recently, an official of Apricus has been brutally murdered, and Wilson is the prime suspect. That's what the protestants are protesting against", Robert told them.

"Oh! But why... Oops! Oh no!", Alice exclaimed, since the bag of vegetables that they had bought, just slipped from her hand. Everyone rushed to pick up the vegetables.

"You're so clumsy, little girl!", Fred teased, while bending down to pick up a cabbage. "Oh, shut up! And how am I a little girl? Are you forgetting that we are twins?", Alice shot back raising her eyebrows.

And without a word, she went off to pick up a potato that had, funnily enough, rolled into a dark alley.

And it had not been a minute, when the others heard a spine-chilling, piercing scream.

"Was that Alice screaming?!" George and Fred asked together.

"Yes, you dimwits. It was! What are you waiting for, now?! Let's go!", Lily yelled at them. Everyone rushed into the alley.

No sooner had they entered the alley, than their eyes fell on Alice, who was cowering in fear, her back pressed against a wall. She was almost shivering.

"What-", they started to ask. But the words died down, as their eyes fell on what, or rather, who was on the opposite side of the alley.

As they looked at the being, they flinched in horror. Hollow, sunken eyes looked back directly at them. The one standing in front of them, had dark, dirty and slightly matted hair, and his clothes were torn and dirty. His skin was deathly pale and drops of dried blood were splattered on his face. He had a lost, blank expression on his face.

His whole being sent shivers through their spines. "Wha...what is that...that...that person or entity or whatever he is?!", George asked fearfully.

The entity slightly turned his face towards George.

"Uhhh... He's a zombie, my dears", said Jenny.

          "WHAT?!", the teens shrieked.

"Actually...", McAdams started, but Fred interrupted him. "Actually what?! Don't start fooling around now", he yelled.

The zombie continued to look at them blankly. And then, he slowly started walking towards them. The others started taking steps, backwards, which is when, they realised, that they were at the opposite side of the alley which had a dead end. And now, even the zombie was nearing them. It was only McAdams who was not panicking and simply standing with a bored expression on his face.

There was a dead end at the back. And a zombie approaching from the front. They were badly trapped!.............
